Every release, in plain words

The complete changelog — what changed and why it matters, newest first.

Version 10.27Sell a car, move the bottom line 📈
  • 📈 A car you sell reaches your profit: the day it goes, its gain or loss lands in the P&L, in True take-home and against your monthly profit goal — which now says how much of the goal came from vehicle sales rather than quietly blending it in.
  • No double-counting: parts you buy on your own car's jobs already counted as internal spend. Once the car is in the Garage those costs stop being expensed and roll into the car instead, so the same dollar is never subtracted twice. Work done before you bought the car stays where it was — it was the previous owner's, not yours.
  • Money parked in metal stays visible: a new line shows what you have tied up in cars you have not sold yet, so capitalised spend never simply disappears from the month.
  • Losses read as losses. A flip that lost money shows in red and pulls the bottom line down — same rule as every other number in the app.
  • Your shop figures do not move because a flip sold: revenue, margins, average ticket and Jobs Done stay job-only. Vehicle money is reported on its own line below the job P&L, and the CSV export gains vehicle-sale rows so a spreadsheet still reconciles.
Version 10.26The Garage Update — sell it and know the number 🏛
  • 🏛 The Garage ledger: mark a car as the shop's own and every dollar accrues against it — purchase and buying extras, parts bought through its jobs (receipt-true, tax in), the build's installed mods, your own hours at each job's real rate, and the outside costs: insurance, plates, gas, storage. A "before ProTech" line seeds the cars you've owned for years.
  • ✍️ The app computes, your number wins: every computed line shows "app found $X" beside a box — type over it (zero counts) and your figure sticks, with ↺ to hand the line back. Nothing you typed is ever silently recomputed.
  • 🏷 For sale, then four honest exits: list it with an asking price and see "at asking you'd clear $X" before the ad goes up. Close it out sold, traded in (the credit becomes the next car's purchase price), parted out (proceeds accrue piece by piece), or totaled. A loss prints red — never clamped, same rule as every other number in the app.
  • 📄 Records pack: one tap prints the buyer's folder — service history with odometer, installed mods, best dyno pull, latest inspection health. No prices anywhere: the buyer sees the car's story, never what you have into it.
  • 🤝 Consignment: sell a customer's car for a flat fee or a percent cut. The fee books through a normal job, so taxes and every report count it the way they already know how.
  • 👋 When a car leaves: mark it departed and the reminders stop — profile chip, Command spotlight and the call list all go quiet while the record stays. Transfer a car to its new owner and it keeps its whole history. And none of this touches the shop's P&L — asset money is its own book, so revenue, margins and targets don't move.
Version 10.25Build Run, Budget in the app 🏁
  • 🏁 Build Run: plan a car's build to a budget and a goal, keep the garage, and see what each stage really costs. Every figure carries its evidence — a real receipt beats a typed guess — and a number it can't stand behind stays blank instead of being invented.
  • 💷 ProTech Budget, inside the app: the books open in their own PIN-gated view, from the sidebar or the Ctrl+K palette. Same rule as the rest of the app: your data stays on your machine.
  • 🔩 Parts read from a sentence: type "four pads and four rotors, 270 for the parts" and the parts table fills in. Counts become quantities instead of ending up inside the part name, and a price covering several parts is split across them in whole cents, weighted by what those parts cost you before. It fills empty lines only — a cost you typed is never overwritten.
  • 💵 Money fixes: a negative tax rate could hand money back — a rate can't go below zero now. Hand-typed totals and margins are rounded where you enter them, so a stray half-cent can't become the invoice total or the profit figure.
  • 🔑 A seat per PC: each machine now holds its own licence seat, so two shops activating at the same moment can no longer overwrite each other. You can free a PC's slot from inside the app when a machine is retired.
  • 🎨 Look and feel: a fifteenth theme (Showroom), a new editorial type system across the app and the site, the Torque mark as the official logo, and an accessibility pass for text contrast and touch targets.
  • Fixed: Build Run's app icon was invalid and had never rendered. Appointments, expenses, tire sets and templates now merge across PCs the way jobs and parts always did.
Version 10.23Money you can trust, Tool Run rebuilt 🔧
  • Money that agrees with itself: Analytics, the P&L, the CSV export and the Internal Work panel now cost a job the same way. Enter a supplier receipt and no two screens disagree — they used to, the moment a receipt replaced the estimate you typed weeks earlier.
  • Internal jobs stop reading as losses anywhere in the app. Your own car, the family brake job, the shop truck — real money out, never a business loss on a report.
  • The CSV reconciles against the P&L: new REAL_PARTS_COST, PARTS_TAX_PAID and PURCHASE_ID columns, and internal jobs labelled instead of exporting as fake losses. Sum the column and it matches the app.
  • 🔩 Parts Run: the parts table remembers what a part cost you LAST time, and shows the evidence behind the number — "you last entered $30.45 (Jul 7) — typed on a completed job, no receipt behind it; 2 purchases on record — thin". A real receipt beats a typed guess. A three-year-old price says it's stale. And when it has nothing honest to say, it says nothing.
  • 🚪 Tool Run rebuilt: four rooms instead of nine screens (Home · Find Tools · My Gear · Jobs & Runs), opening with a two-minute setup instead of a wall of zeros.
  • 🏷 Aisle Check: standing at a shelf tag — punch the price, get a verdict in ten seconds against your own records, fully offline, plus cash out the door with GST/QST.
  • 💰 Payday Planner: "I've got $400" and it builds the basket from your own priorities and your own prices. Unpriced tools are named, never guessed.
  • 🔧 Loan Board: every tool that walked out the door, overdue in red, one tap when it comes home.
  • Readiness stopped lying: owning only jack stands no longer reads READY to lift a car — that false green was reaching the Ledger's missing-tools chip too.
  • Updating is one tap: the app hands you the installer directly instead of a download page, and tells you plainly that your jobs, customers and settings stay exactly where they are.
Version 10The ProTech Update 🔧
  • One family, one name: the suite is now ProTech Shop Manager and the tool module is ProTech Tool Run. Your data, your license and your files are untouched — it's a name, not a migration.
  • Readiness Center: the readiness graph grew into a full page. Every kind of job gets an instrument card — what you own that covers it, what's MISSING, and the cost to be ready computed only from prices you entered. One-tap Hunt →, Watch, or "I have it" on every gap.
  • Your own job types: add the work YOU actually do (turbo install, clutch job…) with required / recommended / optional lines — readiness, the advisor and pack lists track them like the built-ins.
  • Pack lists: pick a job and check tools off as you load the truck; it remembers where you were.
  • Next best buy: one ranked answer on the Tool Run deck, from your readiness gaps, your own price history, your budget and your battery platforms — unpriced stays unpriced, nothing invented.
  • Jobs that warn you: Ledger rows show a 🧰 chip when Tool Run says required tools are missing for that kind of work — tap it to open Tool Run.
  • Native ProTech look: Tool Run now uses the family mono type, follows your active theme live (every look), and speaks English, français and español with the rest of the app.
Version 9The Procurement Update 🧰
  • One true identity per tool: Tool Run now reads manufacturer model numbers the way the makers write them — it knows a bare tool from a 2-battery kit, flags factory-reconditioned units, and warns when a newer generation of a tool exists (with the source of that claim shown).
  • Deal calls from YOUR history: paste a link, receipt line or a price you saw into the +$ Capture inbox; you confirm every field, and Tool Run rates the price against your own records — excellent to weak. Thin or stale history honestly says "unknown" instead of inventing a market.
  • Kit math & platform truth: kits get broken into tool + batteries + charger and compared against parts you priced (uncounted parts are named); battery compatibility is stated as verified / incompatible / unknown; entering a battery platform shows its true cost from your own figures.
  • Pays-for-itself: every unowned priced tool can show payback in jobs and months, from your labour rate and your estimates.
  • Arsenal → capability system: a job readiness simulator (brakes, suspension, diagnostics, engine, mobile calls…) shows ready / weak / missing against the tools you own, and an overlap detector flags near-duplicate buys.
  • Ownership ops: one-tap warranty claim packs, loan tracking with overdue flags, service-due dates, a searchable arsenal ("where is my 10mm?"), buy-vs-rent verdicts, and an insurance-ready ownership report with serials and photos.
  • Chest import & build gaps: import your whole tool chest from a photo list, and a Shop Manager build can send the specialty tools it needs straight to Tool Run — already-owned tools filtered out.
Version 8.1Shared-Folder Sync 🔄
  • Two PCs, one shop. Point both computers at one shared network folder in Settings and they stay matched automatically, live — no USB run, no restart. Each PC keeps writing its own file; the app merges safely, so a sync can never erase records it hasn't seen.
  • Deletions travel too. Removing a part from inventory now removes it on the other PC as well, instead of it quietly coming back on the next sync.
Version 8The Trackday Update 🏁
  • Project Car doubled: 42 engine platforms — GT-R, Evo X, Type R, RS3, AMG, Stinger, Miata, S2000, even Cummins/Duramax/Power Stroke diesels — with 33 famous legend builds to chase, a new Interior & Safety category and 300+ curated parts.
  • Builds that make sense: deep mod lists on every platform (cams, ported heads, port injection, forged internals, head studs, oiling), one ECU tune per build, and one forced-induction system — adding a turbo swaps out the supercharger, like a real build sheet.
  • 💬 Garage Chat: an AI build advisor beside the build list — it knows the car, engine, goal, budget and mods, and it talks parts (free local AI).
  • Four new themes (Blueprint, Gunmetal, Synthwave, Phosphor), icons across the nav and every category, and FR/ES translation fixes.
Version 7The Project Car Update 🏎️
  • Build by target, one click. Pick a power stage (Stage 1 / 2 / 3 — each showing the wheel-hp it makes) or a budget, and Project Car drops the whole package in. The mods change with the goal: a drag build spends on power and launch, a track build on grip.
  • Supporting parts come along. Add a turbo, supercharger or nitrous and it automatically adds the tune, fuelling and clutch it needs to run safely — no more half-finished builds.
  • Horsepower and torque, honestly. Each stage shows one "Stage total" that always climbs (Stage 2 beats Stage 1), and the cockpit now reads live horsepower and torque as you build — torque estimated from the power gains, so put it on a dyno for exact numbers.
  • Sharper all around. Stock horsepower auto-fills from the platform, engine-by-year data is more accurate, you can reach customers by email as well as phone, and the parts markup % is now type-able. The performance & tuner tools moved into the Tuning tab, and the guided tour covers it all.
v6.10.4Project Car, leveled up 🏎️
  • Real staging, finally. Stage 1 / 2 / 3 now means what tuners mean, and only for power: Stage 1 runs on stock hardware (tune, intake, cat-back), Stage 2 is supporting hardware that needs a tune (headers, downpipe, intercooler, cam, fueling), Stage 3 is forced induction. Brakes, suspension and tires aren't "stages" — they're grouped grip-before-power, the way a shop actually builds a car.
  • A proper build cockpit. A cover banner with the car's photo, a projected horsepower read (stock → built), a live budget tracker with cost-per-horsepower, and an install-progress ring — plus goal chips, a 💭 Dream-build mode that shows the whole roadmap with the budget off, and a printable build sheet the customer keeps.
  • Add your own mods. Anything the database or the offline AI doesn't cover, just type it in — name, area, price, expected gain — and it slots into the plan, counts toward the horsepower total, and drops onto the estimate like the rest.
v6.10.2Inspection Log — every inspection, kept
  • Never lose an inspection. Every digital vehicle inspection you finish is now saved to an Inspection Log — customer, vehicle, date and the green / yellow / red tally at a glance. Reopen one to edit it, or reprint the report for the customer, in a single tap.
v6.10.1Ten looks, all readable — and the whole site wears them
  • Every theme, easy on the eyes. Fixed the spots where the light themes (Light, High-Vis Day, Sepia) showed dark text on dark panels — starting with the Good / Better / Best estimate options editor. All ten looks are now clean in daylight or a dark bay.
  • Try any look right here. The theme picker up top now dresses this whole website in your chosen theme and remembers it on every page — click a look and see it for real.
v6.10.0Project Car — the budget build planner 🏎️
  • Plan a build by budget and what you're modding. Pick the car, punch in the engine code and a budget, and Project Car recommends the upgrades — a whole staged build (street / track / drag / show) or ranked picks for just the area you're working on: engine, suspension, brakes, drivetrain, wheels or aero.
  • Knows 19 platforms by engine model code. LS & Coyote, Hemi, 2JZ, RB26, SR20, K- and B-series, EJ, 13B, VQ, B58, N54, EA888 and more — each with real aftermarket prices, honest power gains, and the known weak points to watch before you spend. Anything it doesn't know, the built-in offline AI plans for you.
  • Turn a build into an estimate in one click — every part drops onto a customer estimate ready to price.
v6.9.5Free AI, built right in
  • No API key, no cloud, no monthly cost. Shop Manager Lite now runs entirely on free local AI — Smart Estimates and every AI helper work on your own PC, fully private and free forever. The AI edition ships the model inside, so it all works the moment you install it, even offline.
v6.9.4Bulletproof sync & whole-shop backups
  • Nothing gets wiped anymore. USB sync now merges everything between computers — jobs, inventory, your specs library, paid status and your shop logo all travel safely, and a sync from an empty or older machine can never erase data it hasn't seen.
  • Back up your whole shop, not just jobs. Export/import now carries everything — jobs, inventory, templates and settings — in one file.
  • Now fully trilingual. Every newer feature is translated into French and Spanish.
v6.9.0Money management, leveled up
  • A real payment ledger. Record deposits, partial payments, refunds and write-offs on a job — not just "paid" or "unpaid." Balances always add up.
  • Know where the money is. AR aging shows who owes what and how overdue, a cash reconciliation squares the day's takings, and a money audit trail logs every change.
  • Mark-as-paid, rebuilt. Rock-solid now, with older paid jobs healed automatically so nothing reads $0 by mistake.
v6.8.0Built for a two-person shop
  • Mechanic & front-desk modes. Flip a bay tablet to Mechanic mode — fewer, bigger, simpler screens for gloved hands — while the front desk keeps the full view. Jobs hand off cleanly through their status.
  • Easier for everyone. A first-run guided tour for new shops, hi-vis lettering for the shop floor, and tasteful motion polish across the whole app.
v6.4.1USB sync fix — no more lost jobs between computers
  • Safer USB sync. Moving your data between computers used to let an older copy overwrite newer work. Sync now merges instead: where the same job exists on both machines, the most recently edited version is kept, and no job is ever silently lost. Deletes sync too — a job you delete on one PC stays deleted everywhere.
v6.4.0The Tuning Update — dyno numbers for every shop
  • Record a pull from the laptop. Plug a $15–40 OBD-II adapter into the PC and the new Tuning hub streams live RPM, speed and temps, records the pull, and computes the wheel-HP/torque curve itself — no phone, no file shuffle. A Demo Drive mode shows the whole flow with no car connected.
  • Stock HP & torque, built in. Pick the car (or decode a VIN) and factory figures auto-fill from a hand-checked table of 140 popular engines plus the NHTSA record — with a variant picker for Si / Type R / SS-style trims.
  • Engine health vs stock. A measured pull is compared against the expected wheel-HP band for that drivetrain: Healthy, Down on power, or Needs diagnosis — with a checklist of usual suspects. Prints on the branded dyno sheet. "It should make 230 and it's making 180" is a work order, not a guess.
  • Street numbers. Dragy/RaceBox GPS figures (0–60, 60–130, ⅛ & ¼-mile, trap speed) live on the job and the printed sheet; trap speed + weight gives an instant HP estimate.
  • The Tuning hub. Dyno Lab grew into one Tuning section with a "No dyno? Start here" walkthrough and a Free / Budget / Shop gear-up list — the path in costs $0 to start and about $30 to get real curves. Read the full guide →
Release 1Shop Manager Lite — first release
  • New name: the app is now Shop Manager Lite — same tool, ready to share with other shops.
