Privacy

Short version: your shop’s data stays on your computer. We don’t have a copy and we can’t see it.

• Your data lives on your device. Jobs, customers, invoices, inventory — all of it is stored locally on your PC. There is no account and no server of ours holding your information.
• No tracking, no analytics on your shop activity. The app doesn’t phone home with what you do inside it.
• When the internet is used: only for optional features you trigger — decoding a VIN (NHTSA, a U.S. government source), loading a vehicle photo, sending an appointment to Google Calendar, activating a license key, or checking for updates. The optional AI runs locally on your PC (Ollama) — job notes sent to it never leave the machine. Everything else runs fully offline.
• Backups are yours. Daily backups and any file you export are saved by you, where you choose. Keep them somewhere safe.
• License activation. When you activate a key, the app sends only the key itself, a device identifier, your operating system label (for example “Win32”) and the app version to our activation service, which answers with your tier and activation count. Your shop name is not sent, and no customer or job data is ever included.

Terms of use

• One-time license. You buy ProTech Shop Manager once and may use it on the computers of the shop it was purchased for. No subscription, no recurring fee.
• Provided “as is.” We work hard to make it reliable, but the software is provided without warranty, and our liability is limited to what you paid for it. You’re responsible for keeping your own backups.
• Your data is your responsibility. Because everything is local, we can’t recover data you lose. Please back up regularly.
• Fair use. Don’t resell or redistribute the app itself. Everything you create with it — your invoices, your records — is entirely yours.
• Device limits & transfers. Base covers up to 3 PCs, Pro up to 10, for the shop that bought it. Replacing a computer? Email us and we reset that activation at no charge.
• Updates & support. Updates within Release 1 are included. Email support is answered by a real person, typically within a couple of business days. A future major release may be a paid upgrade — the app you bought keeps working either way.
